PURCHASE

For customers who prefer to keep things simple, purchasing a vehicle outright with cash offers a fast and straightforward solution. There are no credit checks, interest rates, or loan terms to manage—just a one-time payment. This option is ideal for funeral homes looking to add to their fleet quickly or avoid long-term financial commitments.

Many customers value the peace of mind that comes from owning their vehicle free and clear from day one. It also provides maximum flexibility should you choose to trade or sell the vehicle in the future.

LEASING

One of the primary advantages of leasing is that you have lower monthly payments versus traditional loans. These monthly savings are preferred by many of our customers who choose to invest those savings back in their business.

  • Leases are also preferred by many of our customers who like to upgrade their vehicles on a consistent basis and have the latest body styles.
  • Leasing newer vehicles provides savings while also providing warranty coverage throughout the lease depending on the term.
  • The most common lease is also known as a "walkaway lease" or "traditional lease". The terms for these leases are flexible but are generally 72 months for new vehicles and up to 72 months for used vehicles. The terms are flexible and vary according to the age of the vehicle.
  • The lease is a binding agreement for the term of the lease; however, we frequently work with customers to facilitate early terminations when they choose to upgrade their vehicles.
  • Leases generally have mileage restrictions ranging from 8,000-12,000 miles per year which may be a consideration for some funeral homes. As the lessee, you are responsible to maintain the vehicle in good working order. On new vehicles, the manufacturer extended warranty covers you throughout most of your lease term for added peace of mind.

FINANCING

It is important to identify the appropriate lender and program when financing a funeral vehicle. The interest rates between lenders can vary greatly based on a variety of factors. This is why Shields work with you to manage the entire process and identify the best option for your business.

  • The typical financing term is 72 months for new vehicles; however, 84 months is available through some lenders and shorter terms are always available if preferred.
  • At end of term, the customer owns the vehicle. Given the limited number of miles incurred by many funeral homes, the vehicles can still be quite valuable at the end of the loan term.
  • Customers have the option to enjoy their vehicle without payments at the end of their loan term or may choose to trade-in their vehicle towards a newer model year.
  • Although rates may be different between lenders, the financing of the vehicle is similar whether it is one of our preferred lenders, our in-house financing program or a lender of your choice.
  • The customer is able to depreciate the vehicle and may have the option to accelerate the deductions for tax purposes.
  • Financing the purchase works very well for customers who prefer to keep their vehicles for many years.

IN-HOUSE FINANCING

Many of our customers enjoy the convenience of dealing directly with Shields for financing. We are proud to offer in-house financing options to our customers who qualify. The in-house program is designed to accommodate various credit situations and may be the only option for some pre-owned vehicles due to traditional lender restrictions.
